Beginning February 22, 2024, the monthly subscription for Gem Premium will increase by $1 to $5.99+tax.
This is the first price increase we have made since launching Gem on 2018.
The change will allow us to continue investing in great content from Canada and around the world.
You'll still enjoy ad-free on-demand programs, exclusive access to CBC News Network, and exclusive early access to new series and seasons of shows like Escape to the Country, Great British Baking Show, and Murdoch Mysteries.

New Premium Subscribers
New Premium subscribers will receive a 7-day free trial.
After the free trial expires, users will then be charged $5.99+tax per month.
Existing Premium subscribers
The price increase will take effect for existing subscribers from March 22 based on their billing cycle.
For example:
- Your Premium subscription started, or was renewed on February 14th, 2023, and you were charged the old rate of $4.99+tax.
- On March 14th. you will still be charged the old rate of $4.99+tax
- On April 14th, you would then be charged the new monthly rate of $5.99+tax.
Existing Premium subscribers currently in the middle of a promotion
If you are currently enjoying a promotional rate with your Premium subscription, you will still be charged the old rate of $4.99+tax on the next renewal date after your promotion expires.
You will then be charged the new monthly rate of $5.99+tax beginning on your next renewal date.
For example:
- You're enjoying a promotion where you are paying $1+tax/month for 3 months.
- You are currently on the first month of this promotion which started on February 14th, 2023.
- You will pay $1+tax for the months of February, March and April.
- On May 14th you will still be charged the old rate of $4.99+tax
- On June 14th you will then be charged the new monthly rate of $5.99+tax
